In 2016 the band once again escaped to their studio, By The Living Grace where they recorded and mixed their new album. In 2017 the band finally releases their second album ‘Augusta’ that pushes further their alt-country sound into new musical territory for the band incorporating pop, woodsy mid-tempo rock mixed with washes of violin, Wurlitzer/Rhodes flourishes, 4 part harmonies and reverb-laden vocals. The album represents the band expanding their alt-country roots incorporating pop and indie rock with the album fluctuating between acoustic laments: Wall and Come & See, forlorn mid tempo country/rock laments Pleasanton, Easy Heart and Canyons, country-indie rockers such as first single Horses, Broken Lines, and expansive sonic jams Nurse, Let Me Be and Yearling featuring the bands new found interest in mixing country and indie rock inside Americana.

This song is about transition where you are moving together but then become separated through the transition e.g. the idea of being friends, forming a relationship, breaking apart and/or one partner leaving/dying and how the person left behind becomes an island off the coast never really being able to come home. The song switches between two different characters and a back and forth between the two experiences.
lyrics
Oh we carried in our arms, rushing through veins so soft and slow
What choice did we have, when we’re blind, innocent, grey and old
Why do we fade, as the sun shines around the globe
Destroyed and maimed, like insects attracted to light bulbs
Now I’ve been thinking about how long I’ve got left to go
Left out in the field, like cities, I’m all lost and alone
So, close your eyes, to the things that make it so
As you resist, rushing through the glow
Carried away, like a yearling yet to grow
You’ll never know, you’ll never know
Carried in your bets, with your torrents, your torments and the thing, you’ll never own
A diamond is a rock, a fossil, so shiny, wealthy, pointless and cold
Oh how we were blown away, like we were never known
And the times have changed, like we had never grown
Bruised and trembling, from, being left all alone
Peace upon you, before you, before you

song and lyrics written by Kyle Jenkins, music by Suicide Swans
Open the gates & stand clear Suicide Swans are an Australian band through constant live shows display the ragged glory and
swagger of rock, laid back country & dashes of pop, that has seen the band grow into a live force they term cosmic country. Their live sound includes waves of keys, textures & a new found penchant for experimentation, tossing in a mix of country, rock and a hint of pop....more
If Wooden Shjips traded their sails for a prairie schooner, this is what you might hear them playing around the campfire at night on the Great Plains: homespun country-rock with a hint of psychedelia. Wonderful stuff, from start to finish. neu-mann

Be warned, there is a darkness at the heart of this album. To me it speaks to the bleakness and sickness of the human condition, howls its message at the turbulent sea, a bible opened forever at Revelations as the world, real or imagined, crumbles. Deeply personal and oblique this is one to return to and wonder at the meaning carved into the lyrics. A little work on behalf of the listener justifies a trove of rewards.
