about
The song came about thinking about the idea of getting older and starting both understand what you believe in but also question everything in your life from partners, friends, acquaintances but also turning that back on the narrator where they are now questioning themselves and their value as a person. In many ways the title is self explanatory of just stating ‘We Don’t Know Who We Are’ because nothing is made up of one things but many fragmented things and all those jumbled and glued together thoughts, feelings, heart brakes, joy, happiness and helplessness is all contained within us.
lyrics
And we, we don’t always, have to win
But sometimes oh sometimes, I tell you, we can give in
To the distress, the distress the hurt, and the suffering
As long as you and me, as long as we get, to where we want to be
C:
Cause weeeeeee
We don’t know who we are
So why should we suffer fools
If they get between me and you
And be kind to ourselves
Blended together, but not confused
And time, oh time, it heals old wounds between me and you
And all the things that we’ve done, we never have to, repeat again
And in my place, oh my place, when you’re not here the feedback that resists
Placed gently, upon your skin, oh your skin, the thing that I miss
C:
Cause weeeeeee, Oh we
We don’t know who we are
C:
Cause weeeeeee, Oh we
We don’t know who we are

Open the gates & stand clear Suicide Swans are an Australian band through constant live shows display the ragged glory and
swagger of rock, laid back country & dashes of pop, that has seen the band grow into a live force they term cosmic country. Their live sound includes waves of keys, textures & a new found penchant for experimentation, tossing in a mix of country, rock and a hint of pop....more

Be warned, there is a darkness at the heart of this album. To me it speaks to the bleakness and sickness of the human condition, howls its message at the turbulent sea, a bible opened forever at Revelations as the world, real or imagined, crumbles. Deeply personal and oblique this is one to return to and wonder at the meaning carved into the lyrics. A little work on behalf of the listener justifies a trove of rewards.
