about
For this song trying to convey a sense of emotional floating of being swept away like a running river or sinking to the bottom of the ocean and being suspended in that moment of not being connected to anything in particular. Then at the end of the song waking and realizing you are now in a place you don’t recognize and you start to see your home from an outsider’s perspective seeing the qualities and virtues in what you have and celebrating that rather than not seeing the small incidental aspects of your life that are magic.
lyrics
Oh lets see, if all the pieces fit
Snowcapped mountains, slowly melting
Caught in the middle, relax for a while
A rough sea, is beautiful and wild
PC:
Beautiful and wild, beautiful and wild
Beautiful and wild, beautiful and wild
Well there’s distance, that can’t be repaired
Nothing about us without us, for us here
Where you go, it’s a lonely place to be stored
The guardrails inside, always fall
They always fall,
Falling
They always fall,
Falling
PC:
I’m, a, long way from home
I’m a long way from home
Yes I am
Laid in the sand, buried to my feet
As our heads drift, slowly off to sleep
So so nervous, calm and serene
Let me come back, I fail when I try
Oh, I try
God knows I try
Oh I try
God knows that I
PC:
I’m, a, long way from home
I’m a long way from home
C:
Well I’m a long way from home
I’m lost, I guess I suppose
Little hints, a mystery I know
Cause I’m, a long way from

Open the gates & stand clear Suicide Swans are an Australian band through constant live shows display the ragged glory and
swagger of rock, laid back country & dashes of pop, that has seen the band grow into a live force they term cosmic country. Their live sound includes waves of keys, textures & a new found penchant for experimentation, tossing in a mix of country, rock and a hint of pop....more
Be warned, there is a darkness at the heart of this album. To me it speaks to the bleakness and sickness of the human condition, howls its message at the turbulent sea, a bible opened forever at Revelations as the world, real or imagined, crumbles. Deeply personal and oblique this is one to return to and wonder at the meaning carved into the lyrics. A little work on behalf of the listener justifies a trove of rewards. Also, be sure to check out the video for “Vultures” on YouTube. halfpenny_wayne
